History
The University of Wisconsin Water Ski Team was created in the
Spring of 1999 by water ski enthusiasts Timothy Marien, Mike Nowicki
and Matt Clark. Since then, our team has established a large and
respectable reputation in the sport of water skiing. As mentioned
earlier,we were voted the 2000 Collegiate Water Ski Team of the Year and
have won back-to-back conference championships. The team was created
with the objective of fielding a competitive collegiate team as
well as providing a learning atmosphere for all skill levels.

Ski Program
Like almost every other collegiate ski team across the country,
the
University of Wisconsin Water Ski Team is a club-based team run
by
the members. We compete in the traditional 3-event water ski format
of
slalom, trick and jump. Also, our conference is leading the nation
in the
incorporation of wakeboarding into tournaments. Any student of
the
University can be a member of our club team. The top five males
and
females for each event are chosen by practice performances and
compete for our A-Team. Members who did not make the A-Team but
still wish to compete in a tournament may ski for the B-Team.
Most
tournaments, time permitting, allow teams to field both A and
B teams.
While both teams compete, only the scores from the A-Teams are
used
in determining placings. However, the B-Team is vital in providing
less
skilled skiers with real tournament experience.
